We have a sliding door in our kitchen that we regularly keep open to make sure the warmth goes up to the bedrooms. When we moved into the house the door had a grimey looking rubber door stop that soon got kidnapped as a toy by the dogs. Since then we have taken to using a bit of folded up cardboard under the door to keep it open…. tres chic! If you want to keep the nursery door ajar so you can hear what your little one is up to… don’t use a crummy bit of cardboard! Get yourself one of these cute door stoppers from Happy Little Hippos.

Need to coax your kid off the Wii, PS3, iPhone, iPod, or iDon’tKnowWhat?? How about this old-school explorers kit from Cradle Rock? The Dumpling Dynasty Explorers Kit holds a carefully chosen vintage-style metal torch, magnifying glass, metal compass, string with knot-guide and notebook and pencil, all enclosed within a funky retro style tin box. Well if it doesn’t get used (which I am sure it would) it would still make for a great ornamental value on the shelves!

Scandinavian company Playsam have come up with a fresh take on the old school rocking horse, with the funky looking rocking rabbit! Available at Kido Store. I am not sure if it is me though, but as much as I like this toy it does have a slightly freaky look about it and gives me flashbacks to the Donnie Darko movie!

I am still on my Etsy bandwagon, enyoing uncovering hidden handmade gems! My latest finds are from seller Portland Beanie Company. Check out the cute knitted beanie and maryjanes… and the model is quite a cutie!

Any mum who has endorsed dummy (or pacifiers for those across the globe) use would know what a pain it is when they drop on the ground, and even worse when they roll under the couch or what not! But the dummy clips available at chemists and supermarkets are so ugly and reminiscent of the sunglass chains from the 80’s except with some random pic of a teddy or clown face on the clip that they are really a sight to behold (or not to behold as it might be). I have never fully explored the labyrinth of goodness that is Etsy, but I did stuble across these handmade dummy clips by seller lucabella0522. Think I might need to grab myself one! (oh and she makes other cool stuff too!)

When I was a kid I was an avid cubby maker. Whether it be under tables, in cardboard boxes, in bushes, you name it, I’d find a way. Well one might argue that this kind of creative cubby making is good for kids, and I tend to agree, but gee I would have been stoked to have one of these tents to play in (and the envy of all my friends of course!). Made by Haba, I found this one at Cocoon Living.

I have just put my daughter on a waiting list for swimming lessons (well they are more about water orientation really I think), but I have to wait till she is at least 6 months old (so not long now). Of course she will need a snazzy swimsuit to wear if only to detract from the fact that my post baby body means I am not quite the vision in my own swimsuit! I found this very cute nautical one piece from Seed in sizes from 0-18 months.

My Ikea Antilop highchair has just come into its own in my household! My 5 month old has worked out that she can sit in it quite well and feels totally grown up. I have the blow up padded insert cushion which holds her tiny self in place and there is also a safety strap. We also got the tray that clips on the front (don’t know why you wouldn’t really). For the mega cheap price this highchair is fantastic! The moulded plastic make it so easy to wipe down and keep clean, and the simple styling means that it slots in well into our living space. One buy well worth it!

In hospital I was given a little sample pack of products from Tasmanian company Beauty and the Bees. I have to say that their baby products are fantastic. They use all natural ingredients and are very gentle on sensitive skin. My favourite product would have to be the Honey Cream Bath, of which I have gone back to buy more of and it feels very luxurious when I share a bath with my baby girl. Also note-worthy is the Baby Massage Oil and Botty Butter. And yes… you can order online!
